Dermapen is a specific type of microneedling – a minimally-invasive cosmetic technique used to improve the tone, texture, and appearance of skin. Unlike traditional microneedling, Dermapen uses a special handheld device that contains vertical rather than slanted needles, for maximum therapeutic effect.
Dermapen exploits the body's natural healing response by causing countless micro-injuries into the outermost layer of the skin. Damage is minimal compared to other microneedling techniques but enough to prompt the body to ramp up its natural collagen and elastin levels. These substances help ensure that new skin that forms is smoother, healthier, stronger, and free from the blemishes currently affecting your confidence.
Pain is one of the biggest concerns we hear associated with Dermapen. Microneedling techniques like Dermapen aren't painful, but they can cause some discomfort during and after the treatment. However, most clients agree that it sounds more painful than it actually is and that the benefits hugely outweigh the short-live discomfort they've experienced. Remember that pain is subjective, so you may not experience any whatsoever.
Every client heals at a different rate, but most will heal from Dermapen within 24 hours of their treatment. You'll be able to return to most of your usual activities immediately, but you'll be advised not to wear makeup or go out in the sun, even with SPF, for the first 24 hours. During the first three days, you may also experience redness, irritation, and even inflammation.
Most clients are recommended to have at least three Dermapen treatment sessions spaced at six to weigh week intervals for optimal enhancement and skin radiance. Since the treatment relies on biological processes, you may start to see results approximately six weeks after the first treatment. However, optimal results are usually visible around the six-week mark.
