8 Tips To Maintain A Clear And Healthy Skin During Ramadan
Ramadan is a holy month to receive spiritual energy, and during Ramadan month we will not be having any food or drink from sunrise to sunset. Also, in a place like Dubai, where the heat and humidity are high and not drinking any liquid during the day time can make your skin dry. Here are 10 tips that can help you maintain clear and healthy skin in Dubai during Ramadan.
Drink plenty of water
As we will not be drinking any water from sunrise to sunset, our body will be dehydrated, and this will make our skin look dry. The best solution for this is to drink plenty of water between iftar and suhoor. It is suggested to drink anywhere between 10 to 12 glasses of water.
Dubai is a hot and humid place, our body will be losing a lot of water through sweat and other normal body functions. So, if we do not drink adequate amount of water between iftar and suhoor, our body will be dehydrated and it will lead to dry skin, wrinkles, and acne breakouts.
Avoid fried food as much as possible
During Ramadan fasting, we need to be very careful about what we eat. As we will not be eating from sunrise to sunset, we will be tempted to eat fried and oily foods when breaking the fast. Having fried and oily food daily may lead to acne breakout and will make your skin look dry.
Instead of eating oily food, you can choose to eat healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, lean meat, and foods with high antioxidants. Instead of eating fried meat, we can opt for boiled meat with gravy. This will ensure that your skin gets all the necessary vitamins and minerals during Ramadan.
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser
Washing your face at least 2 times a day with a gentle cleanser is really important during Ramadan. Washing your face with a gentle cleanser will remove dirt from skin pores and keeps your skin clean and healthy. Also, do not use rough scrubs for cleaning your face, as this can cause inflammation and irritation on your skin.
Exfoliate at regular intervals
One of the best things about Ramadan fasting is it’s a natural detoxification of the body. As we fast for long hours the toxins from our body get removed. As our body goes through natural detoxification, this may lead our skin to look dull. So, if you exfoliate once a week, this will help your skin to look healthy and clean.
Use sunscreen when you go out
As we will be fasting during the day, and Dubai being a hot and humid place, we need to use sunscreen when going out. Using sunscreen will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays. And as we will not be drinking any water during the fast, it is really important to use sunscreen during Ramadan. To have healthy skin during Ramadan, try to avoid the sun as much as possible.
When there is a need to go out, use sunscreen and wear protective clothes that save your skin from direct sunlight.
Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep and maintaining a regular sleep pattern is really important during Ramadan. Due to late night prayers and early morning suhoor, we will have an irregular sleep pattern and we might not get enough sleep. And this may lead to dark circles under the eyes, puffy eyes, and acne. So it is really important to get atleast 7 to 8 hours of sleep during Ramadan fasting.
If it’s not possible to get enough sleep during the night, you try taking a short nap during the day. Having enough sleep will keep your skin rejuvenated and fresh.
Manage stress
It is really important to manage stress during Ramadan. Because stress can cause acne breakouts, wrinkles, and can make your skin look dull. As you will be having changed eating patterns and as you will not be drinking any fluid during the day, it is really important to manage stress during Ramadan.
Avoid caffeinated beverages
It will really be refreshing to have a cup of coffee after breaking the fast during Ramadan. But, try to avoid caffeinated drinks as much as possible during Ramadan. This is because caffeine can dehydrate your body and can make your skin look dry. Too much caffeine can also lead to acnes.
